Mary Kate believes humans are inherently good and capable of change, and that all people deserve opportunities to achieve their own definition of wellness. She works from a relational lens, emphasizing connection, authenticity, and empowerment.

She also works with the LGBTQ+ community and those exploring gender identity.

Using a person-centered, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive approach, Mary Kate fosters insight and awareness in a safe, compassionate environment. She works with clients of all backgrounds, identities, abilities, and family structures.

Evidence-based modalities she applies include:

  • Relational Cultural Theory
  • PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy)
  • DBT, MI, EMDR
  • Mindfulness, somatic experiencing, and skills for emotional regulation and relational competency

Education & Experience

Mary Kate is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling from Oregon State Universityand a BA in psychology and human rights from Prescott College. She has over ten years of experience in wilderness therapy, residential treatment, and community mental health, working with trauma, mood disorders, substance use, and family systems.

Personal Life

Originally from Chicago, Mary Kate now lives in Bend, Oregon. She enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest through camping, biking, backpacking, live music, coffee, reading, and community activities, often accompanied by her dog, Sunny.
